Our team of AmeriCorps Coaches are national service members who have committed to a term of service to support students at College Forward. Coaches put students first and empower them to achieve their educational goals.

At College Forward, you’ll make the most of your AmeriCorps commitment by:

Seeing students through an entire year of preparation for college or staying in college.

Make a real difference in the lives of each student and family you support.

AmeriCorps Benefits

In exchange for their valuable service, College Forward AmeriCorps members receive the following:

Living stipend.

No-cost medical insurance, and low-cost dental and vision insurance.

Eli Segal Education Award to use to pay off student loan debt or for future tuition.

Generous time off, including federal holidays, Winter Break, and flex time privileges.

Possible eligibility for SNAP (Food stamps).

Student loan forbearance for qualified student loans 

Robust professional development, including continuous training, monthly professional development seminars, and opportunities to lead meetings.

Skill development and public service work experience.

College Access Coach

College Access Coaches serve high school juniors and seniors by providing support and guidance through the college application process. These coaches work with students one on one and within a classroom environment to ensure students are on track towards accomplishing their academic goals. College Access Coaches lead college prep meetings, assist students with scholarship and financial aid applications, and provide resources to students as they navigate the college application and admissions process.

College Success Coach

College Success Coaches serve students who have graduated high school and are pursuing a post-secondary degree. These coaches generally work with students one on one and provide support to students through their post-secondary education. College Success Coaches connect students to campus resources, provide guidance on navigating college level courses, and assist students with course registration and financial aid.

Peer Mentor Coach

Peer Mentor Coaches are current college students and serve other students on campus through their post-secondary education. Peer Mentor Coaches provide guidance on transitioning to life on campus, managing college level coursework, connect other students to campus resources, and assist students with course registration and financial aid. NOTE: Only students currently enrolled at Texas State University San Marcos or Austin Community College (Riverside & Highland campus) are eligible to apply for this position.

Summer Bridge Coach

Summer Bridge Coaches serve newly graduated high school students through the summer transition from high school to college. Summer Bridge Coaches support students with freshman orientation, course registration, financial aid, and connecting students to campus resources. NOTE: Only current students in the College Forward program enrolled in an accredited college are eligible to apply for this position.
