College Forward coaches underserved, motivated students to achieve the benefits of higher education and a post-secondary degree. We pair students with near-peer coaches who provide personalized support to guide students from 11th grade through college graduation.

At College Forward, you’ll make the most of your AmeriCorps commitment by:

AmeriCorps Benefits

In exchange for their valuable service, College Forward AmeriCorps members receive the following:

Living stipend.

No-cost medical insurance, and low-cost dental and vision insurance.

Eli Segal Education Award to use to pay off student loan debt or for future tuition.

College Access Coach

College Access Coaches serve high school juniors and seniors by providing support and guidance through the college application process. These coaches work with students one on one and within a classroom environment to ensure students are on track towards accomplishing their academic goals. College Access Coaches lead college prep classes, assist students with submitting financial aid and scholarship applications, and attend college campus visits.

College Success Coach

College Success Coaches serve students who have graduated high school and are pursuing a post-secondary degree. These coaches generally work with students one on one and can provide assistance both virtually or in-person to support students through their post-secondary education. College Success Coaches assist students with course registration, financial aid, academic advising, and career development.

Lead Coach

Lead Coaches are AmeriCorps members who have previously served a service term at College Forward and have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills. These coaches are responsible for excellent service to students and act as leaders for incoming AmeriCorps members. In addition to their coaching responsibilities, Lead Coaches act as a liaison between Program Managers and first-year members and serve as a Site Lead for our partner school sites.

Peer Mentor Coach

Peer Mentor Coaches are current Texas State students who will serve College Forward students who are pursuing a post-secondary degree at Texas State University. This is a part-time position where coaches generally work with students one on one and can provide assistance both virtually or in-person to support students through their post-secondary education. Peer Mentor Coaches assist students with course registration, financial aid, academic advising, and career development.
