Five Texas students become 2019 Dell Scholars

Dell Scholars is one of the most competitive scholarships in the country that combines financial aid and a college-completion program. Over the past 16 years, the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation has supported more than 4,800 scholars, including more than 2,000 college graduates. While nationally, only 20 percent of students like Dell Scholars graduate from college within six years, 83 percent of Dell Scholars graduate with a bachelor’s degree within six years.

Like College Forward students, most Dell Scholars are first-generation college students who are hard-working and determined to make their post-secondary dreams a reality. College Forward is proud to announce that we have five 2019 Dell Scholars starting their post-secondary journey this month!

Our winning combination of College Access Coaches and motivated high school students helped set our best-ever award rate in College Forward history—and one of the highest award rates of any program in the country! This year, 56% of our semifinalists received scholarships. This milestone belongs entirely to our College Access team and our dedicated high school students who worked tirelessly on their essays, applications, and various rounds of vetting.

Dell Scholars receive $20,000 to pursue a degree over six years. Additionally, Dell Scholars provides its students with technology, resources, and mentoring to ensure all Scholars have the support they need to obtain a college degree. Learn more at dellscholars.org.

Please join us in congratulating these scholars as they embark on their first semester of college!
